Privacy Policy
Win by Two has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. We don’t run a server that holds your data: your games live on your devices and in your own iCloud, and we can’t see them.
What the app keeps, and where
- On your device. Your profile (name, nickname and avatar); your groups and sessions, meaning who played, the matchups, scores, standings and RSVPs; and, if you allow location, the spots where you’ve played.
- In your iCloud. A private backup of your sessions and groups, and your profile, so a new phone picks up where the old one left off. It sits in your Apple account under Apple’s privacy terms, and we have no access to it.
- With the people you play with. A group or session you share is shared through iCloud with the people in it: display names and avatars, the place, matchups, scores and RSVPs. During a live session, phones at the same courts also pass it directly to each other over the local network.
Invite links
An invite link or QR code lets whoever holds it join that group or session, so send it to the people you mean to invite. The host can stop sharing at any time, which turns the link off for everyone.
Location
Win by Two asks for your location only when you first open the place picker. It uses it to search Apple Maps for courts near you, a search that goes to Apple, and, while a round is in play, to remember where you stood so it can suggest the same court next time. That remembered spot stays on your phone, and you can forget a place from the place picker. The place you pick for a session, its name and map pin, is part of the session, so the people in it can get directions.
Apple Health
If you allow it, Win by Two records each session you play as a Pickleball workout in Apple Health, which is also what keeps the app on your Apple Watch’s screen while you play. It saves the workout, with its time, heart rate, calories, steps and distance, to Health on your own devices, and reads your heart rate, steps and distance during the session to show them on your watch.
That information stays in Health, under your control. Win by Two doesn’t send it to us or to anyone else, doesn’t put it in the sessions you share with other players, and doesn’t use it for advertising or for anything but your workouts. You can change what it can read or save, or turn it off, in the Health app (tap your picture, then Apps) or in Settings, under Privacy & Security, then Health. Workouts it saved stay in Health until you delete them there.
Camera, notifications and alarms
The camera is used only to scan an invite code, and nothing it sees is saved. Reminders and round alarms are set on your device by the app; nothing is sent to us to trigger them.
Recap links
When you share a recap link, the recap itself travels inside the link: the session’s name and date, who played, their records and the session’s awards. Anyone you send it to can read it. It sits in the part of the link after the “#”, which browsers don’t send to any server: opening the link loads the recap page from winbytwo.app like any other page on this site, and the recap is drawn in the browser, so it never reaches us.
Diagnostics
If something goes wrong, the session menu’s Diagnostics opens an email to support@winbytwo.app for you to send, or, without Mail set up, a file for you to share. It carries the app’s version, your device model and iOS version, anything you type, and that session’s record of changes, including names, matchups and scores. Nothing is sent unless you send it. We use it only to look into the problem, and keep it no longer than we need to.
Beta testing
If you test Win by Two through TestFlight, Apple shares with us crash reports, basic usage such as installs and sessions, and any feedback or screenshots you send, under Apple’s TestFlight terms.
If you ask for an invite on this site, we send your email address to Apple so it can email you the TestFlight invitation. It then stays on the beta’s tester list in App Store Connect, where we can see it, until you leave the beta or we remove you. To stop the form being abused, it also keeps a scrambled form of your network’s address, which expires after two days, and nothing else.
This website
winbytwo.app uses no cookies and no analytics. It’s hosted by Amazon Web Services, whose servers see your IP address in order to send you each page, and may keep it in standard server logs for a short time. We don’t use them to track anyone.
Third parties
We don’t sell your data, or share it with anyone for advertising. Win by Two relies on a few services to work:
- Apple, for iCloud, Maps, Health, notifications, alarms and TestFlight, under Apple’s Privacy Policy.
- Amazon Web Services, which hosts this website and its beta sign-up form.
- Google, whose Google Workspace carries our email, including anything you send to support.
Deleting your data
Delete the app to remove what’s on your device. To remove your iCloud backup, open Settings, tap your name, then iCloud, then Manage Storage, and delete Win by Two’s data. Sessions you played in stay with the other players, the way a paper score sheet would.
Children
Win by Two isn’t directed at children, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. What little we do receive is described above: beta sign-ups, TestFlight reports and messages you choose to send us.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
